Description
Cannon Beach is a coastal town on the north Oregon coast and a well-known visitor destination. The area sits within the traditional territory of the Tillamook tribe. William Clark of the Lewis and Clark Expedition visited the location in early 1805 while wintering at Fort Clatsop near the Columbia River.
In January 1806 Clark and companions, including Sacagawea, traveled to the site and encountered the Tillamook tribe, bartering for supplies. A wooden whale sculpture commemorates the meeting at the northern end of Hemlock Street.
Today visitors are drawn to Haystack Rock, a 235-foot sea stack accessible at low tide. Tide pools contain intertidal animals such as starfish, sea anemones, crabs, chitons, limpets, and sea slugs, and the rock is a nesting site for seabirds including terns and puffins.
The coaster features an actual photograph epoxied onto tile with clear coat and cork backing. Handmade in Oregon. 1–2 coasters cost $9.95 ea and 3+ coasters cost $8.95 ea.
