Description
The Cascadia Subduction Zone — where the Juan de Fuca plate moves beneath the North American plate — stretches from British Columbia to northern California. Along the Oregon coast, tsunami evacuation signs mark routes to safety, and this Leaving Tsunami Hazard Zone Sign Coaster features one of those markers.
These signs appear throughout coastal communities and serve as reminders of ocean forces and natural history. If a Cascadia tsunami occurs, it may reach the Oregon coast within 15–20 minutes. The last recorded event occurred in 1700 and remains part of Native Tribal legends. Historical patterns suggest events approximately every 250–500 years.
The coaster uses an actual photograph epoxied onto tile with clear coat and cork backing. Handmade in Oregon. 1–2 coasters cost $9.95 ea and 3+ coasters cost $8.95 ea.
