Description
From Ocean Sole comes this Octopus Sculpture made from recycled flip flops, on average 12 in total, harvested off the beaches and waterways in Kenya. This colorful ocean sculpture transforms discarded materials into striking coastal home décor. These products are hand carved by Kenyan artisans and all unique so no two octopuses are exactly alike, making each recycled flip flop sculpture a one-of-a-kind piece of ocean art. Tremendous resourcefulness from the Kenyans helps clean up the Kenyan beaches and waterways of unnecessary and unwanted garbage while creating meaningful, eco-friendly décor.
Ocean Sole is a social enterprise that upcycles washed up flip-flops found along the beaches and waterways in Kenya and positively impacts over a 1,000 Kenyans through the collection of flip-flops and direct employment. The enterprise provides steady income to nearly 100 low-income Kenyans, recycled over half a million flip-flops in 2017 and was targeting to recycle a million in 2018. Ocean Sole contributes from 10-15% of it's revenue to beach cleanups, vocational and educational programs as well as conservation efforts, making this octopus sculpture not only vibrant beach décor but also a symbol of sustainability and ocean conservation.
Size is approximately 16" W x 16" L x 7" H. Perfect for beach house décor, coastal living spaces, ocean-themed rooms or anyone who appreciates marine life art and environmentally conscious design.
